This house was certainly a busy home with 5 children! When they started to grow up, the home also became an elegant place for the parents to entertain.

The Living Room & Dining Rooms were the focal point of this traditional style, center hall Colonial house. The Westchester couple preferred a comfortable but elegant, traditional style. Since the two rooms were located next to one another, a smooth transition in color and style was chosen.

A beautiful hand made Oriental rug in neutral tones, was chosen for the Dining Room. Custom venetian plaster walls were rubbed with a pearlescent tone to make the room shimmer. Existing chandelier and sconces received a face-lift with custom-made silk and French bead lampshades. A medallion was added above, painted in gold and silver leaf. The soft romantic feel of the room continued with a beautiful mirrored server and large Chinese vase, with gold detail. New slip seats were reupholstered in a silky material, on the chairs of their dining room furniture.

The Living Room was designated for the children to play piano, and for grown up entertaining. A chenille sofa was the focal point with artwork presented above, reminding the couple of a past trip to France. An oval glass and metal coffee table kept the area open and airy, surrounded by side tables with detailed inlay. A bold geometric rug anchored the room, while formal window treatments in a soft dot pattern kept it looking bright and welcoming. A corner cabinet contained a hidden bar, which would be opened up for parties, containing stemware and fine wine. Family photos added the final personal touch.
