Our family tradition during the Holidays is to come into the city to have some fun and see the sights. This year we started by visiting the Historical NYC Public Library. We were amazed by the intricate wood carvings in the ceilings and the soaring columns with decorative detail. We stumbled upon a photography exhibit entitled ‘The Public Eye’ that ran the gamut from old to new images.
We continued on our visual journey to see the very creative Lord & Taylor Holiday themed windows. This years focus was on ‘Tasty Treats!’. We had even passed by the front of Macy’s where the Peanuts Characters were smiling at us.
Our visit would not be complete without seeing the Rockefeller Center Tree and all of the skaters below. We took our obligatory photo in front of the millions of lights before walking across the street to St. Patricks Cathedral.
The Cathedral was in all of its original grandeur, having just completed its several years of restoration. Its walls were sparkling white. The whole church was just magnificent!
Bryant Park was hopping with pop up shops selling lots of great stuff and more iceskating. We attempted to visit the top of the Empire State Building as well but found out there was a four hour wait. Definately something to look forward to at another time!
